Synthwave is an incredible scene of music, bringing back the 80's inspired by soundtrack music and the culture and excess of the 1980's. One artist that brings it back is Jordy Leenarts, aka, Timecop1983.
So I realize there's a certain artists' debut album I've been teasing to review. I took a break from Sunday, and was busy a lot on Monday, so now I finally get to review a new favorite album of mine, and it only released about 11 days ago.
"An innocent man...a beautiful wife...terrorized by the out-of-control degenerates of the Earth...left for dead, and mercilessly broken, the man who once had it all will have to give it all up to save his own life, as well as avenge his fallen rose. Absolute Valentine presents...POLICE HEARTBREAKER. How do you deal with the case of a broken heart?"
Anyone remember that album I reviewed, the Teenage Wasteland EP by The Northern Lights? Well, it looks like the person/people behind the music project have just released a new album called "Endless Summer", which is described as a selection of their fans favorite tunes, and 6 brand new tracks.
The year is 2014. The year synth music exploded open for me. Carpenter Brut was gaining lots of attention, Perturbator's album "Dangerous Days" stays in the top 10 charts of Synthwave to this day, and Timecop1983's "Journeys" releases. To me, those releases are out of this world. But also, to me, there was one release that stayed in this world, it sent me back somewhere I always wanted to be, and had never been.
ORAX was one of the first artists in this genre, and he gave me a lasting impression on it, on what the genre sounds like to me now and how my tastes are. He's consistently been a favorite of mine ever since his first album and other works afterwords
When the time comes for us to forgive and repent and cower and beg.
When the time comes for the shadows to fall across the sky and bleed.
When the time comes for our world to shake and crack and burn.
When the time comes...is now.
He has arrived.
The time...for the end.
The Northern Lights presents us a tale of passion, romance, loneliness, isolation, and of course, our distant memories of one's lost love in their Teenage Wasteland EP.
